Part-way through March we all went to M's school to celebrate as his class wrapped up the end of their unit study on the Greeks and the Romans.
All the kids were encourage to dress up in various homemade 'period' costumes (togas or roman soldier armor), yummy Greek food was served: hummus, pita bread, grapes, and the class put on a cute little play about the gods and the food they eat.
M played the part of Mars in the play, so earlier in the week J-rod helped M fashion a sword using a yard stake, spray paint, and twine.
While we did make a toga for M to wear that day, since he decided that Neptune is his favorite god we also made a crown of waves and a gold trident as part of his costume.
M was happy with his costume and it was a good creative outlet for me to help him figure out how to put it all together.
