8 is great!

Last week M turned 8--
Happy Birthday M!

Here is how he spent his special day.

Playing the D.S. with Li'l J after church while I wrapped gifts and J-rod baked M's cake.

After dinner M got to talk to both sets of grandparents, open presents, and have cake.

Aw shucks big brother, it was nothing!

Thanks for the soft, fuzzy, new robe little bro!

Thanks for all the great gifts everyone!

Mm, yum-o...J-rod made a tasty cake!

The next day we went to the H's house for a game night. While we were there, K surprised M with a dairy-free Rice Krispie Treat cake--yay!

Celebrating with good friends.

All in all M had a good birthday. Now that he is eight, M is so happy to be an official Cub Scout. He was very excited to attend his first den meeting last week.

Next up, racing in his first Pinewood Derby as a Cub Scout--whoo-hoo!! Here is a little preview of his car as he was beginning to work on it. The big race is coming up in a few days, so we will be sure to give a report of how it goes.

M was going to have his baptism next week but as G'pa & G'ma S weren't going to able to make it (and he REALLY wants them to be there), M has opted to postpone his baptism until they can make it...the end of March. M is very excited to be baptized and has been working hard to prepare for it. Over the last several months M has been reading his scriptures diligently everyday to meet his goal of reading the entire Book of Mormon by the time he gets baptized. Since he was working towards having it read by the end of this month, as of today he only has 20 more pages to go--awesome job M! We are so proud of you!
