Blue and Gold Banquet

Early in the month of March, our Cub Leaders put on a fabulous Americana themed Blue and Gold Banquet for our Cubs Scouts and their families. The cultural hall in our building was decorated with lots of red, white, and blue; the table center pieces had a framed photo of our Cub Scouts that each family got to take home at the end of the night; and the food was fun "ballpark fare": hot dogs, nachos, chili, and lemonade.

Each boy researched a state of his choice and put together a little report to display at the banquet. Each of the displays were well done and it was fun to read about the various states the boys chose. Despite our best efforts, neither J-rod nor Zippy were successful in convincing M to pick NY! What? Yep, you read that correctly...the boy who still terribly misses his "home" state like CRAZY didn't choose NY! Instead M researched Massachusetts. His reason being? The Boston Red Sox are his favorite baseball team and beautiful MA was a place he misses visiting. : ) M worked hard on researching some fun facts about beautiful MA, and then displayed them in a nice diorama.

Since our Cubs were also asked to provide the dessert for the evening by baking and decorating a cake in any theme of their choice, M (with Li'l J's help and Zippy's supervision) made an awesome Red Sox baseball cake! Many of our Cub Scouts brought yummy and creatively decorated cakes. Everyone was also asked to wear a baseball cap to the banquet that night so naturally M and Zippy wore their Red Sox caps, while J-rod and Baby A wore their BYU caps. As usual, Li'l J marched to the beat of his own drum and wore his AZ Diamond Backs cap. : )

At the Blue and Gold Banquet M was awarded his Bobcat; M continues to enjoy Cub Scouts and is working hard on completing his achievements.
