Easter 2009

This was our third Easter since moving into this house, and the first time since then that we didn't travel anywhere for the holiday. Though we missed being with family, it was a nice change of pace to be home. Saturday night we watched The Ten Commandments with the boys and got ready for church the next day.

Sunday we spent an enjoyable day at church where, since J-rod was actually able to go with us, I got to help teach the sweet 6 year olds a lesson on Easter. After church the kids opened some fun presents from G'ma & G'pa C, we had a little egg hunt for the boys, and then took pictures of the kids in the backyard. We knew it was time for us to be done with the photo shoot when the sprinklers came on and drenched us! Oh we laughed SO hard...it's all about making memories, right?

After a yummy dinner of spiral ham, cheesy "funeral" potatoes, green beans, and hot rolls, we had a family lesson about Easter. A few Easters back (I no longer remember if we got it in our previous ward or in our current ward when we first moved in) we were given twelve plastic eggs that each contain a symbol of Easter along with a scripture reference for each and a description of why it's an important part of Easter. J-rod hid the eggs throughout the living room and then we had the boys look for them. Once they were all found, the boys took turns opening an egg, showing us what was inside, telling us what they thought the object had to do with Easter, J-rod then read the scripture and I read the description. It was neat to share this lesson with our children and our testimonies about what the true meaning behind the Easter celebration is: our Savior Jesus Christ and the love He has for each of us. (Later I will post the FHE lesson.)

We hope each of you enjoyed Easter surrounded by your loved ones!

Here are some of the fun pictures of the kids we managed to get before the water-works began:
M: SO grown-up now!

Li'l J: always happy-go-lucky!

Baby A: enjoying her first Easter!

Our greatest joys!
