For Father's Day this year we took a very quick road trip to home to surprise my dad. My older siblings organized a BIG gathering for the special day. All of my dad's kids (minus my one sister of course), almost all of his grand kids (three were unable to attend), his brother, and my mom gathered at my brother R's house where we had a yummy lunch, showered my dad with presents, and what I think will be one of the best parts when he has passed...we had a professional photographer (a friend of my sister's) come do a family photo shoot of all present. This was the first photo shoot of this kind for my family (there were 28 of us there), so it was quite the event. We are anxiously awaiting the return of the proofs so we can see how the pictures turned out and order prints. The collage below is of what pictures I managed to take throughout the gathering that day.
It was good to have us all under one roof, even if it was only for a few hours. I enjoyed visiting with all of my siblings, their spouses, as well as my nieces and nephews who are all growing up too fast! I also really enjoyed watching my kids have a good time playing with their cousins, even Baby A had a good time paling around with cousin C who is a month and a half younger than her.
Up until this last week my dad's health continued to deteriorate rather rapidly. We actually didn't know if he would even make it to Father's Day, and that day he was in a lot of pain and put on quite the brave face for the gathering and pictures. When we left my family to come back home, saying goodbye was hard on us all as we didn't know if that would be the last we would see of my dad before he passes from this life. Even though our stay was short, and it was tough to see how much weight he has lost and how much pain he endures daily, I'm so glad we got to out to visit him.
Last Tuesday my dad went into the hospital to have a CT of the bile tube he had inserted last month. Not only did he have a major infection at the site of insertion, but it was discovered that the tube had shifted and was plugged up causing the bile to back into his system...again, grr! He was immediately taken into surgery where under general anesthesia the tube was reinserted correctly and the drainage unplugged. Since then he says he feels like a new man and that he feels like he was yet again given a new lease on life! It is clear to me that prayers are answered and that the many blessings he has been given where he's been told that he will overcome this illness continue to come to pass. No one knows just how long my dad does indeed have left on this earth, but we are grateful he is still with us and that he is doing SO much better! Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and concern on our behalf.

That must be so hard to be going through. It is so great that you have been able to go and see him recently. I love the picture with him and your baby girl looking right at the camera. She is precious!
