Paradise: Day 3

The morning of our third day in paradise we toured the resort property and learned a bit more about the little slice of paradise where we were staying. Located 45 miles south of Cancun on the Riviera Maya, Hacienda Tres Rios resort opened at the end of 2008 on reclaimed land that is part of a nature preserve (severely damaged by Hurricane Wilma.) To read more about the resort itself and all that it has to offer, click on the link above.

The coolest part of the tour was the bird's eye view we got at the end. The top left picture in the collage is the part of the pristine nature park currently left untouched as a preserve for the many species of animals native to the area. You can see that much of the damage from Hurricane Wilma still remains.

After our tour and a yummy lunch (at the outdoor grill visible in the bottom right hand corner of the panoramic picture), we headed off to do some shopping in the town of Playa Del Carmen. We spent the rest of the day taking in the sights and sounds as we shopped to our (okay, my) hearts content on the 5th Ave of Playa Del Carmen. After shopping we walked down to the beach, rested our feet while we took in the beautiful scenery and then strolled along the shoreline before heading back to the resort for delicious Italian cuisine at one of the resorts formal restaurants.
