Since M’s birthday this year happened to fall on a holiday from school, it turned out to be a perfect day for M to have a friend party. Good thing we had planned to have this party indoors as that day was the beginning of some CRAZY winter rain that created SO much chaos throughout much of the West.
M chose to have a LEGO party, so we began the building fun with the invitation that we gave out. About a week before the party, each guest received on their doorstep a baggie filled with four different sized and colored DUPLO type LEGO's with a lable attatched to each brick. The idea was that each guest could then assemble the bricks to get all the info for the party. As the guests discovered during assembly of the invite, it didn't matter in what order the bricks were assembled as any combination possible still gave the correct info.
One brick was labled:
"Come build a mega-fun birthday with M on (party date.)"
Another one:
"Sorting begins at (party start time)...
at our Legoland (and then our address.)
A third one:
"Bring your creativity for some brick building fun!
Your parents can pick you up when we're all done at (party end time.)"
The last one:
"RSVP: (our phone number)"

1-3. The gathering activity as the guests arrived at the party was: "Guess How Many LEGOS Are In The Jar" (at the end of the party the winner got to take the jar home) coupled with free play using all the LEGOS we own.
2-3. "Triplets" M, G, and I (profile pictured) always have a good time together! All three are in the same class at school and many a student and teacher at school often get them confused, or at least think they're all related (but only two of them are!). Sometimes they are referred to as "The Three I's". It's a good thing they are all such good friends and don't mind. : )

5-6. Once all the guests had arrived (11, a mix of friends and siblings), the kids played “Pin the E on the word LEGO” (we used post-it alphabet letters and stuck them on a half poster-board that had an enlarged LEGO logo on it.)
7. Next up was a very animated game of LEGO (like BINGO, but on a 4x4 grid with various LEGO related pictures…they used actual LEGOS as place markers.)
8. Then before cake, ice cream, and presents, a game of “Guess What I Built”.
9-10. I scream, you scream, we ALL scream for birthday cake and ice cream!
11. The birthday boy surrounded by all his adoring fans...I mean friends!...while he opened the nice gifts everyone brought him.
12. I, M, A, and A. M LOVES that he has his very OWN Rubiks Cube that he doesn't have to share with ANYONE! : )
13. A, M, and A. It wasn't long after the party that M had that LEGO set put together!

15. E-man, M, A, and C. Notice the matchy-matchy shirts all three boys are wearing? The one M is wearing was a gift from the other two--he LOVES it!

When the party was over, we sent everyone home with goodies from the LEGO store: a LEGO magazine, a bunch of LEGOS, and chocolate LEGO candies (made from a LEGO ice tray I found at the LEGO store!)
Fortunately not only did a few of the moms stay to help (thank you J, J, and K!!), but J-rod had that day off as well so we managed to get through the party without tearing our hair out—that was one very happy and energetic group of kids! Thank you all for coming--we had a GREAT time and hope you did too!
After the party M got to open gifts from all his family--you all have good taste!! M was very HAPPY with, and continues to enjoy, the many books, movies, and games he received.
20. Not sure how during the opening of family gifts this was the ONLY picture we managed to snap, but it sure is a cute one huh?!?! C-sta sure LOVES her big brother M!!
After family presents we met up for dinner with our good friends the H family at a mutually favorite restaurant--Red Robin--to continue celebrating M's birthday as well as D's.
21. While waiting for our order to arrive, Li'l J and Tink had fun with the in store games.
22. When it was time for dessert, the crew at RR sang to both birthday boys D (pictured) and M.

24. When E-man came over to say hi to C-sta, she was SO happy to see him she reached out and bear hugged him--too cute!!
