Spring Break 2010--Day 1

Even though our first day in Oceanside was overcast and a bit "breezy", we spent most of that day playing at the beach and pier with some friends from our ward who also happened to be in the area for the week.

While some boogied with boards in the frigid water...

others used the breeze to their advantage....

When it got too cold to be in the water...

C-sta was not a big fan of the ocean this time around!

...we headed to the end of the pier for some lunch at Ruby's Diner, a cute 50's themed restaurant where their friendly staff serves yummy food and even better shakes!

While at the pier, we got "up-close and personal" with some of the really cool locals:

After lunch we headed back to the beach where there was still lots more to do.

What's a visit to the beach without a little sand digging and eating?

No crying, just a funny face!

Since the sand didn't taste as good as she thought it would, it's a good thing there was a playground near by!

Peek-a-boo!

The tunnel and slide were fun, but the swing was the biggest hit where C-sta was concerned!

While C-sta enjoyed the playground, the older kids kept busy having a good time burying each other--

Check out the "six pack" M gave C...(the six rocks on his sculpted chest)...too funny!

After a long, fun day at the beach--

we quickly headed back to the condo to freshen up--

...The amount of sand left in the tub after they got out was nothing short of AMAZING!  It's a wonder there was any left on the beach!!...

C-sta, channeling her inner "CindiLou Who, who was no more than 2".

...before heading down to Old Town San Diego where we met up with the H's G'pa and G'ma and visited the newly remodeled Mormon Battalion Visitors Center. If any of you head down that way, I would highly recommend a visit to this amazing new center. There is a fun interactive tour where you learn about the Mormon Battalion and many hands-on displays and activities for the kids--panning for gold was lots of fun!

Are you worn out just reading about Day 1?  Better rest-up because up next: Day 2--Disneyland!
