December 2010: Activities

In addition to all the traditional festivities in December, we had some opportunities to participate in other fun activities.

To the back drop of another beautiful desert sunset, early in December the kids and I attended an Arrow of Light Ceremony conducted by our district Order of the Arrow in the traditional American Indian way.  It was held for the many Cub Scouts in our stake that had earned this, the highest, award a Cub Scout can earn, and boy was it a  neat ceremony!  It definitely inspired those younger boys to work hard to earn their Arrow of Light award.

Before school let out for the Christmas break, both M and Li'l J participated in each of their respective Christmas concerts.  M played his trumpet with the band and Li'l J sang with all the kindergartners.

~M's concert~

1. Roll call.
2. M's adoring fans.
3. Yay M!
4. After the concert: Friend R and goofy-eyed M.

~Li'l J's concert~

1. With friends. L-R: T, Li'l J, and Smiley S.
2.Walking into the auditorium.
3. Assembling on stage.
4. Somewhere under the arrow.

On the last day of school before the Christmas break, another mom and I got to spend the afternoon helping out in Li'l J's class.  The kids had a lot of fun making a few ornaments to take home: a count-down to Christmas paper chain; a snowman; and a clove covered tangerine.  After working on crafts, Li'l J shared cupcakes with his class to celebrate his upcoming 6th birthday.

~What a fun day!~

Towards the end of December, our AWESOME Cub Scouts leaders arranged for our Pack to have a SUPER fun activity at Peter Piper Pizza.

~From start to finish~

All the kids got to make their own personal sized pizza's and then while the pizza's were baking, we got a "behind-the-scenes" tour of how the restaurant operates.   Check out the HUGE dough mixer in the center!

~Everything here is SUPER-sized!~

~Pink tickets and prizes GALORE!~

After lunch all the kids enjoyed playing games and climbing through the play-land.

~They sure have FUN at Peter Piper!~
