Beautiful views of the fall foliage on our way down to Provo
Looking ahead to the rest of October, November, and clear through December, J-rod will have virtually no time off (including no time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas) so...when a number of factors came together for a little family get-away, how could we not take a trip to beautiful Utah for the better part of a wonderful week? Not only was J-rod was able to get the first week of October off, tickets for our family to the BYU vs. USU game, and tickets to two General Conference sessions, but he also found cheap, cheap, plane tickets for us all--yippee!!
Our first glimpse of the Draper Temple
The kids did very well on the flight, especially C-sta (as the boys call their li'l sis)--it was her first time on a plane--and, no one got air sick thank goodness! After picking up our rental car in Salt Lake and stopping for a bite to eat, we headed up the mountain to our hotel in Snowbird to drop off our things, put on a couple extra layers (it was significantly colder in Utah then we are used to!), and headed south towards Provo for the BYU football game against Utah State University. After sitting in traffic for a little over 2 hours to go a mere 40 miles!!!...we finally barely made it to Lavell Edwards Stadium in time for kick off!
Yep, up in the nosebleeds but happy to be there!
Although it took Li'l J til around the 3rd quarter to take his fingers out of his ears when he finally decided he didn't mind the "football noises"(the large, loud, cheering crowd, the firing of the George Q. Cannon by the ROTC, etc), we all had a great time cheering on our Cougars to victory! We had a yummy dinner, courtesy of the good ol' BYU Concession Stands, while at the game ran into a few unexpected friends, missed visiting with others, and FROZE (even under all the extra layers)! When it was over, we made our way down towards the field and got a few more cute pics of the kids before heading back up to Snowbird for the night.
