After our trek to the outlet mall we were all set for our week long trip to Utah. The purpose of this trip was to attend a 3 1/2 day family reunion. Since C-sta wasn't yet two and since driving all that way would have cost almost as much as flying (when factoring in gas and overnight stays), we decided to fly and that way give ourselves a few added days of fun time in Utah before and after the reunion.
The flight to Utah was fabulous because it wasn't a full flight so C-sta got her own seat--ahh, SO nice!! Once we realized C-sta could have her own seat, she promptly sat down, found the seat belt, and very excitedly said: "uckle, uckle, uckle!!" (that was the first time I had heard her say "buckle"). Boy, did she think herself such a big girl to have her own seat. : )
The return trip we weren't so lucky as we had a full flight. It took quite a bit of effort to help C-sta adjust to the idea that she wouldn't have her own seat but rather would be sitting in my lap. Fortunately, the Tylenol we had given her before the flight eventually kicked in and she was able to take a nice little nap.
Our first full day in Utah was Sunday, which we spent most of enjoying the grounds on Temple Square. We stopped in to both visitors centers, but especially like the new display in the South Visitors' Center. The scale model of the Salt Lake City Temple was so cool! It was really neat to be "see" inside the many different rooms of the temple.
Towards the evening Li'l J started showing signs of having the stomach flu. J-rod had to take Li'l J out of Legacy twice and both times they barely made it to the bathroom before Li'l J threw up. Yay--just how we wanted to start out our vacation...not! The rest of the night and most of the next day was spent trying to help Li'l J keep things down and then cleaning him and the sheets up when he didn't. Fortunately Monday afternoon on our way to the reunion we found some Pedialyte powder packets (the kind you add to a water bottle) at Target, and that finally did the trick at helping him to begin feeling better! As many have experienced, traveling with a sick child is NO fun. Fortunately no one else got sick--yay!
