August was another fun but very busy month for our family. Since we packed in many adventures into August and did a much better job at taking lots of pictures to document said adventures, I'm breaking up the recap into a number of posts so as not to overwhelm our reader with too much all at one.
At the beginning of the month, in preparation for a family reunion we were going to as well as for C-sta's 2nd birthday later in the month, the three kids and I spent a day at a local outlet mall doing some shopping and having lots of fun. We shopped 'til we just about dropped and then ate lunch in the big food court where the boys rode the carousel all by themselves. C-sta and I were a bit bummed that we didn't ride with the boys but with two strollers, drinks left from lunch, a diaper that needed attention, and numerous shopping bags to keep track of, it was much easier for us girls not to ride with the boys this time around. After the carousel we gathered up all our stuff and made our way over to the newly opened aquarium that is now part of the mall. Though our feet were tired and my wallet was definitely a lighter by the end of the day, the kids did well and we all enjoyed the aquarium. We hope to go back sometime and take J-rod with us so he can enjoy it too.

As I look back through the pictures from our visit to the aquarium, the looks of awe and excitement on my kiddos faces as they went through the aquarium are the best part of the memories from that day! Li'l J was hesitant to enjoy himself at first, but the interactive "trail quiz" the kids were given at the beginning of the tour helped him want to look at the exhibits to find the answers so that he could turn his quiz in at the end for a prize. : )
A day or so after our mall and aquarium adventures, it was time to say goodbye to some friends that were moving out of state. Saying goodbye to the M family was bittersweet because while we were sad to see them go, we were excited for the new adventures they were going to have where they were headed. We are always very grateful for the many ways available to us for keeping in touch! To help them survive their long drive, we took over a "moving survival kit" to the M family before they left. When we stopped by to drop off their basket of treats, the boys got in a few last minutes of play before saying "see ya later."
