We enjoyed swimming with and playing in the pool with lots of friends, even though sometimes it isn't as refreshing as one would hope because our pool tends to retain the heat very well!
Best buds!
A bit more refreshing than swimming in our pool parties at the town pool that we attended, one for a ward activity and another for the swim team. Other than swimming to cool off, M, Li'l J, and friends enjoyed hanging out, playing the Wii, and staying up super late during many a sleepover.
Early in July M's swim season ended, and though he didn't make it to finals he did enjoy being on the team quite a bit. Both boys are looking forward to being on swim team together next summer. It was at the last meet prior to finals where M placed first in one of his heats. He was SO happy to have finally achieved the goal he had set for himself at the beginning of the season. We were very happy for him!
Place ribbons for all of M's events
M was SO happy to get this 1st Place!
As our little bundle of energy Li'l J began to sit still longer bit by bit this summer, his interest in reading as well as his ability to read seemed to improve too. Along with many trips to our local library throughout the summer and numerous books loaned to us by friends, we all had lots of great book options available. It was fun to listen to Li'l J daily read through the many beginner level books we'd bring home with little to no help at all. Think he's ready for kindergarten? You betcha'!
M and I devoured and continually "snatched" from each other, I mean SHARED quite a few books. It was fun to enjoy many of the same books and be able to talk about them together. Here is a short list of links for our favorite book series from this summer:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Though I only made it through the first one.)
C-sta loves the pool too...
and we LOVE her Li'l hula dancing monkey swim suit! : )
Just within the last few weeks of July C-sta's emerging speech began to be more coherent; this was music to our ears! As of July she was answering "ya", "uh-uh", or "no-ooo" when asked a question. She also began to say "up", "uming!" (coming!), "appy!" (happy!), and "baby". It was also in July that while she still didn't appear overjoyed to go to Nursery on Sunday, she no longer cried when dropped off (which is always a good thing, right?). C-sta is becoming a great little helper! Right now she absolutely loves to help transfer the laundry from the washer to the dryer.
For the Fourth of July we got together with the M and H families for swimming, fun games, and of course...yummy food. K's super cute "poppy" and uncle were there too. I LOVE her grandpa, he is the sweetest li'l man and he happens to remind me a little bit of my dear dad. : ) When it was time for the local fire works show (from the high school), rather than fight the traffic we got to enjoy them from atop the H's balcony which gave us a very nice view.
Happy 4th of July!
While preparing this post, I realized that the July heat pretty much squelched my motivation to carry around my big camera as it seemed like there was very little photographic evidence of anything we did throughout the month. However as I'm bringing this recap to a close, I now think there are just the right amount of pictures to give a good idea of what happened.
