Where all these fun questionaires get started and how they make it to the internet I'll never know, but we were officially tagged this weekend by cousin K. So...for those interested here is our "Marriage Meme"--8 facts about J and Z's marriage.

1. After many near misses: both of us being in the same place at the same time, knowing the same people for over three years, once the right time was added to the equation, J and Z were officially introduced to each other by a mutual friend. We will forever be grateful to CJ!

2. After a whirlwind 4 months of dating, J and Z became engaged and Z promptly left to student teach in Mexico for two months. After innumerable emails and a hefty phone bill, Z returned and graduated as a teacher with two months left before the wedding. After the wedding, both Z and J worked various jobs while J finished school.

3. When people find out that J served his mission in Guatemala and that Z was born there, the rest of the conversation inevitably goes something like this:

Stranger: "Oh, so J, you baptized Z and brought her home with you?"

J and Z: "Um, no."

4. In 8 years of marriage, J and Z have: lived in four states, rented six apartments, built one house, owned two homes, and been members of seven different wards.

5. So here's the sequence of events for one of our early moves:

• Packed everything we owned into every nook and cranny of the little red truck.


• Rapidly cleaned our apartment and checked out.


• Left NY at 11 PM and headed south to drop off a 9 month pregnant Z on her 25th birthday at an airport 3 states away to: catch a flight, to get her back across the country to UT.


• An hour into the drive, we ran into a nasty winter rain, ice, fog, and snow storm on I-81, turning what should have been a 4 hour drive into an 8 hour, 25 mph crawl.


• Did I mention that during the drive and due to limited space, Z had a box on her lap the entire time?


• Z nearly missed her flight but did make the trip out to UT safely. J fell asleep on a bench in the airport for 2 hours after Z left, but did eventually make his way across the country (4 days later).

One may ask, why not stay put? We were both done with our temporary jobs in NY, our lease on our apartment was up, we wanted to get home for Christmas, J had to get back to start the new semester, and leaving Z alone in NY to have our first baby while J returned to UT to work and go to school wasn't an option.

We figure if we can survive this experience, we can survive anything!

6. J and Z enjoy watching movies together, reading quietly side by side, playing board games with our boys, traveling (usually to visit family and friends) and looking for the fun in everyday!

7. Both J and Z are night owls, which has made recent mornings interesting as both our happy boys have become EARLY risers since our x-country move!

8. J and Z are forever and always madly in love!
