Sadly, the zoo was probably the most disappointing of the four parks we visited. Perhaps because we visited the zoo prior to the peak of the season, we discovered throughout the day that most animals were either napping and difficult to find amongst the shadows of their area or not on display at all because their area was under construction so we missed out on seeing some of the bigger and more typical zoo animals--giraffee's, lions, polar bears, hippos, rhinos, etc.! What a bummer!
We did get a long and good look at the many CUTE koala bears that were out and about, and enjoyed a nice little sea lion show where we learned how to tell a sea lion from a seal. In addition to the koalas and sea lions, we did see zebras, lots of reptiles, flamingos, mandrill baboons (think Rafiki from the Lion King), gorillas, orangutans (we saw a GINORMOUS orange one--he was easily five feet tall and three feet wide--though unfortunately we didn't get a picture of him.), lots of birds, and a couple panda bears.
Maybe next time we'll try the Wild Animal Park instead--more animals (so I've heard), less walking, beautiful views, etc. : )
